| Alpha RX LowPro Fairway Wood Straight and Narrow from the Tee The fairway golf clubs also hit a great long shot off the tee. Professionals will often choose a wood over a driver when sand or water narrows the driving zone. Or when a dogleg makes an accurate first shot more appealing than trying to drive through trees. Airborne off the Turf For par 5's and long par 4's, your 2nd shot off the turf or fairway will require a good amount of yardage. And an iron is also challenging without taking a deep divot. 2) The sole of the RX is smooth and frictionless. Woods are swung with a sweeping motion, rather than a descending motion for irons. Woods are intended to strike the ball at the bottom of the swing, rather than on the upswing for drivers.
